KVK Kohima, Nagaland conducted a program on soil conservation from March 22 to 27 at KVK conference Hall Kohima. KVK Kohima organized a week-long intensive Skill Training of Rural Youth(STRY) in association with SAMETI, Hyderabad. The program was conducted under Sub-Mission on Agricultural Extension (SMAE), Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India.
This week-long training program was especially on Soil Conservation. The youth of Kohima took participation in this program. They learned how to conserve soil. Because soil conservation is very important to us. Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kohima took this initiative.
Dr. Sesenlo Kath, technical officer, and Dr.Paihem Michui, ACTO (Animal Science) delivered the lecture. And they gave power point presentations on various topics on soil conservation measures like terracing, half moon terracing, contour bunding and strip cropping, tillage practices, etc.
They also encouraged the participants to develop and utilize the skills that are shown there. 15 rural youths participated in the program.
